If we only had some Global Warming

This is the scene that greeted us when we opened the blinds this morning.
That is what they call a blizzard. Sustained winds over 35 MPH for more than three hours and white out conditions.
Things were desperate enough that the Snowbirds were feeding from the feeder.
and fighting each other for the few seeds available in the box.
Twelve hours in to a predicted 30 hour storm our neighbor Ralph was out trying to put a dent in the accumulation.
So I figured I better go out and get to it as well
One eyed snow blowing gets a bit tricky
Eventually I got the driveway partially cleared and tackled the back side of the house
And the patio, between 18 to 20 inches accumulation from twelve hours of blizzard.
Gave the birds some seed but it was gone in no time flat
And they were all back to scrounging the droppings from the feeder at the kitchen window
A dove pecking at the snow
And the Snowbird back on the feeder.
Four hours later it's like I never did anything.
Driveway is socked in again
Drifts piling up between the house and garage.
Hope I can start the snow-blower in the morning. It quit on me rather suddenly this afternoon I suspect wet ignition.
Frost on the front foyer door
Lower down
Same one with the flash this time

Now if we could just have some of that dang global warming they keep trying to blame me for.

So I guess we will have to make due with, pork ribs with onions, carrots, little tomatoes, and potatoes dressed with salt, pepper, olive oil and tarragon for 45 minutes in an oven at 500 deg F.
Two to four more Nor-Easters forecast for the next two weeks. First one will be this Friday with over a foot of snow expected.

    1. It wasn't my choice. Dad had gone to school here back in the early 50s so its were we came to when we left Venezuela.

    2. You should feel lucky Mike, for the past week, I have been waking up to -20 degrees weather. Nothing starts except the older snowmachine I got free. Go figure, lol.

    3. That newer machine of yours is hardly broken in, tolerances are too tight. That's why it wont start. LOL My snow blower quit rather suddenly this afternoon I think the contacts got wet from the snow. I wouldn't mind the snow if we could just stay in, do like the bears and ignore it. But we need to be able to keep up with the mortgage so we need to clear a way to get out and got to work.

  3. The snow looks rubbish but your dinner looks great. I love ribs but I've got faggots for tea - a cheap meal but one of my favourites!

    1. Rubbish is a good word for the white stuff outside, the name of your diner on the other hand, over here is a derogatory term for homosexuals. If I googled correctly over here we call them meatballs LOL

  4. I knew you were going to get hammered up there, but it seems like you were ready for it and got through the ordeal ok. The weather here has been cold with some snow but nothing to compare with things there.

    1. Harry, I wine and bitch about it but in the end yes we are prepared to handle it. I don't like it because it makes for a ton of additional work just to be able to keep up with a daily routine and other obligations. And when we get several storms together in a close row as if forecast now, it gets old real fast and you don't have time to recover or repair the broken tools and snow-blower.

  5. My son came especialy from Finland to do some examination that he have to do. There were 2 days of some snow in Jerusalem and all the roads were close. It is amazing how we can not deal with snow here.

    1. Hi Yael, here thing get paralyzed as well, but it usually takes a bit more than a couple of inches. School is canceled on snow days and all towns have parking bans to clear the snow. Those who can work from home. The snow storm in the photos dumped 84 centimeters of snow on us last Tuesday. I just managed to dig us out and we got another 30 cm on Friday. Today Monday we have another 30 cm coming down on us. And 30 more cm are forecast for Sunday. No doubt a bit better than having missiles landing on your head as you have in Israel but still a bit tiring to deal with.

    2. It is strange how the human mind works. I forgot the fear that i had only 6 month ago whith the missiles here, and now worried a lot about the weather here:) but I did not forgot how helpful was your support during those terrible 50 days.

    3. Yael, Even after thirty plus years here in Maine I don't care for winter. Every year, with increasing age and body aches, less so. When we get storms that dump 12 inches every other day it is a significant amount of work just to keep up with the daily routine. Mentally the short dark winter days take extra effort and awareness to keep from getting depressed. I know I moan and complain about the weather, but am aware that it shall pass and in the end it is insignificant. These are the events that take place in my world so its what I talk about here.
As for war, I have never experienced it first hand so I have no idea of what it feels like for you just sitting there with missiles raining over head being unable to do much about it. I could not imagine the stress. For some the mind has an amazing way to heal. For others they never recover and suffer perpetually. Some of our soldiers that have come back from combat are permanently damaged not just physically but mentally. They will never recover. I know one who was involved in some of the worst stuff in Afghanistan and he is basically on a suicide mission and will not let anyone help him. From some small clues you have given I know that you once had your life devastated as a result of war against institutionalized Muslim antisemitism, but yet seem seem to keep going. I can't do much from here but I figure that having someone to hear your worries and encourage you helps.
