Stopped by Cabelas on Monday and this was the scene:
For handgun ammo all they had was eight boxes of 25acp. Normally that rack is loaded on both sides.
Shot shell shelf was not much better. Most of that was 28 ga.
Small rifle had some 22 hornet and some other odd balls.
If you are into .50 Beowulf or .450 Bushmaster you might have something.
I can't say it often enough! Get a reloader. Take charge of your ammo supply. If you don't and leave that up to others - this is what happens. Think about it: if the SHTF this is exactly what will happen. You need to be prepared.
ReplyDeleteThere are no reloading supplies either. Zip, Zilch, Nada. At this point anyone who does not have a stash is SOL. Even when O-barkie took over it was not this bad. I do have a Lee Classic Turret, all the accoutrements and enough supplies to keep me going for a while.
Deleteuh oh!
ReplyDeleteYou know how it goes, you can vote your way into socialism, but more often than not you have to shoot your way out of it.
DeletePeople are preparing.
ReplyDeleteGorges, at this point its way too late. Preparation time was years ago. There is nothing to be had. The Gun Library is closed, sixty feet of glass counter display in the sales dept have been stuffed with plastic cases and decoys to fill the space.
DeleteStocked up years ago. Occasionally top off with a bit more, but the bulk of the pile was established years ago. Got into the habit of buying a box of ammo every payday. For .22 that was a brick at a time. Used to get a brick (500 rounds) for about 10 bucks. Got everything sighted in this summer, just to make sure everything was functioning right. Glad I did as I discovered a 10/22 mag with the bad habit of falling out of the rifle after five or six rounds. Replaced it and tested the replacement. Feel pretty sorted now.
ReplyDeleteA little bit at a time is the only way to do it. Buy when the deals are available cause one day, like now, there won't be none. Just stopped by Wallyworld and the shelves were bare and the gun rack in the display case was empty as well. Corporate HQ probably sent the order out to put them away fearing looting regardless of who wins. You'd think we was living in a third world crap-hole like the one I left forty years ago.
DeleteSure feels like a third world craphole sometimes. I know some folks who have fancy clubs -cause that's all you have if you don't have ammo for your gun. Warned them to stock up but nobody listened years ago.
DeleteIt's pretty much run what ya brung all over the country at this point.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you all.
Its been skinny here for a few months but I never seen it this bare.
