Colder than a witch's tit in a brass brassiere

7:15 am today
10.8 degrees Fahrenheit below zero
For you metric weenies that's 23.6 degrees Celsius below zero.
Rhododendron bush leaves outside the kitchen window curled up like cigarettes
Mudroom windows frosted over
Even the bedroom windows which are double paned insulated had a thick layer of frost on the inside, proving how well our new accordion pleated blinds work.
Only good news is gasoline prices are the lowest they have been in 6 years. From a high of over 4 $ a gallon we are down to 2:17$. Here is yesterday's fill up bill. Got to love that.

    1. You can have it John, I am a cold blooded critter and these ungodly temps do me no good. I am still waiting for all that global warming they keep blaming me for.

  4. 57 cents a litre. With the two price hikes these last few months we now pay 90 cents a litre, up from 40. Angola is the second largest sub Saharan African oil producer and exports a hell of a lot of crude to the US.

    1. Like I said, until recently we were seeing 4 dollars a gallon, over a dollar a liter. A figure completely inflated by artificially imposed and wholly misguided forces. But despite the best efforts of the dirt worshiping NAZIS at the EPA and commie administration to choke the economy by stopping any new exploration/production, private oil companies on private land have been fraking oil shale here and in Canada at an increased rate. So much that now we actually produce more crude than Saudi-Arabia. Saudis and Putin are freaking out and have increased their own production to try to undermine our higher costs. So prices have plummeted which despite what the talking head morons on TV say is good for the economy for it cost the average Joe less to fill his tank and thus has more to spend on other stuff, which in the end stimulates the economy.

  5. Minus 23.6 C is illegal here. We go down to about minus 10 C very occasionally, but I can't even remember the last time.

    1. I wish they made it illegal here as well. Wouldn't mind one bit if it never dropped below freezing. The only good thing about that extreme cold is that at least around here you don't get snow when its that cold.

  6. We have no snow, but are expecting freezing rain here tomorrow. Temps are down below zero at night, up around the mid twenties by day. But the Weather Channel says it will be more normal starting next week. I hope so, this is not fun.

    1. Hey Harry, it has warmed a bit yesterday and today up to about 20 deg F during the day if you can find a sunny sheltered spot outside. But the wind is still howling here. They said we are to expect another cold wave which I suspect is what you are suffering through right now, and then it will warm up. Still waiting for all that globular warming they keep blaming me for.
