Honda Odyssey engine mount

One of the other failures on the state inspection was the front engine mount on the van .
Supposed to look like this . . .
Only after I ordered a new one, the mailman delivers this. . . . that don't look eve close to the right part .
Seems the warehouse monkey can't read English and slapped the wrong shipping label on the wrong part he picked from the shelf .
Three weeks later after a lot of Flea-bay back and forth I finally get my money back , order and receive the right part from a different vendor .
And processed to extract the broken mount .
The part supports the side of the transmission that faces the backside of the radiator. Here we are looking at it from the top . The camera makes the space look big , In reality there is hardly more then four inches space . Lots of expletives , skinned knuckles and forearm , and extraordinary perseverance allows me to take the old one out and get the new one in place . Using some drift pins to align everything and every extension in my tool box to reach the fourteen mm bolts .
The lower bolts that hold that top aluminum bracket are best accessed from underneath the car. Ratcheting box end wrenches saved the day
Got it done. Major Pain in the A** .  Next chapter the Sway-Bar bushings . . .

  1. I wouldn't even know how to start commenting about common sense, work ethics and regular ethics in today's workplace.

    1. I guess I am just gad I actually got my money back. I was waiting for the guy to send me the right part after I returned the timing chain kit, but he took his sweet time and then refunded me. It was a disappointing experience. But we are making progress on the repairs. Stay tuned for the next chapter. It will be a corker.

    1. They probably would have charged me about as much as the car is worth. The actual part only cost me thirty dollars purchased on-line. The local auto-parts store wanted 120$ for exactly the same Chinese made piece of junk. Good thing I have other cars to drive while I work on the van.

  3. It's good to have the skills, tools and place to work on vehicles. Pretty annoying when you can't get the rights parts shipped.

    1. I have the garage space and have acquired a few tools over the years . Though it seems every new project requires the purchase of another specialty tool . Still cheaper than paying someone to do the job . But who said I knew what I was doing? LOL , most of the time it is sheer desperation with a big pit in my stomach , thinking WTF am I going to do now? And when I actually succeed , it is a BIG relief , and I am utterly amazed I actually pulled it off .

    3. Yea, if you are going to own old cars you have to be willing to get your hands dirty and experience the occasional moment of desperation. If I'd have had to pay someone to do this and the other repairs I have done it would have far exceeded the value of the car. I'll try and post the next chapter in the saga today.
