Local Wildlife

The local wildlife has been making an appearance recently

After about a ten year hiatus some critters are moving back into the neighborhood

They have been making the rounds in everybody's yard including ours .

Sighted these two sketchy looking ones followed by a haggard looking female of the species puffing on a smoke down at Eight Corners about a mile from the house .

This variety hauls around all their household accoutrements wherever it goes .

This one appears to have a racoon tail of some kind

Ten minutes later when I came back from gassing up the car they appeared to be getting ready to nest down in the local woods right across from Joe's Cafe .

  1. See more of both types of wildlife. Some turkeys are better than others.

    1. Yea the first species are harmless enough except they keep eating my neighbor's freshly laid down grass seed. The second species are a bit more troubling as you never know what kind of opportunities they are desperate enough to try and take advantage of.

    1. You and me Gorges. Sadly there was evidence of substance abuse.

  3. You think a posse of concerned local regulators might visit them soon and discuss the errors of their ways and encourage them to say hoof it it south to say, DC? They can be bidet voters... Isn't Maine a little cold to be living in the woods without proper shelter and an adequate heat source? At least I have my 19' travel trailer to become homeless in.... I echo Mr Gorges sentiments.

    1. It is still hitting the 70s here during the day, dropping to the low 50s at night. Yea you'd think they would be headed south for the winter along with the other migratory species. But that would take forethought and planning that is impossible in an intoxicated state of mind. During the day they commandeer the four way intersection up by the strip mall where they set themselves up with lawn chairs and beach umbrellas to pry on the gullible. Just long enough to collect what they need to buy a couple bottles of Thunderbird, Wild Rose or a jab of their preferred opioid. Then they hit the local soup kitchen for supper and the local clinic for their hit of methadone. Rinse, wash and repeat.

  4. I have no sympathy for them anymore. I’ve seen what they do to communities, what they do while under the influence, and what they’ll do to feed their habits. Their dealers should get the death penalty…

    1. Unfortunately this falls under the rule that you only get more of what you promote . So long as social services under the misguided notion of "charity" provides basic needs for them it facilitates the deviant behavior . Twenty years ago it would unusual to see this here . Now you have these bums fighting it out for control of the choice begging intersections . There will be one on each corner plus a couple on each island . And by local ordinance the authorities are forbidden from interfering with them .

  5. We recently came back to Maine for a mini vacation. I can't believe how many more aggressive "collectors" there are up there. It is just not a good or pleasing look.
Portland not only had many more collectors, but so many stores were closed and boarded up. A shame that this has happened.

    1. When you subsidize something you only get more of it. And it will only get worse as time goes on. I do my best to stay out of Portland and its "cultural diversity" even though its only about 8 miles from where I live.

  6. Mike, are you in hiatus again? Or did you join the local wildlife down by Joe's Cafe and say the heck with it all?

    1. Hey Kevin, Thanks for stopping in. Haven't had much news worthy to post about lately. Been busy with work. Finally got to finish up that project I started last year for a customer. Interior trim work now. Got a bunch of pictures I need to put up.
Also dealing with some major changes. After 22 yrs as a physical therapist my wife just lost her job as we wont get the jab. Its all been a bit more than stressful. So we are trying to navigate that CF without totally loosing our cookies. I think we'll be OK but its still a major kick in the nuts.

  7. Man, I am sorry your wife got the boot, but glad she didn't get the jab. That crap is gonna blow big time up in their faces. I am a retired nurse and we wouldn't put up with the masking and the jab crap. But, we were more independent thinkers back then, and didn't have all the commie indoctrination they have now and petty tyrants in the admin areas like they do now. I have a feeling people like your wife and docs and nurses will be starting their own clinics for cash no insurance no hassle. Might be a heck of a lot cheaper for people. Cookies? You said cookies, I love me some oatmeal with raisins...

    1. Yes, I'm definitely still among the living though sometimes I am plumb punch drunk and half brain dead at the end of the day. So no motivation to try and put anything coherent together. As you know though, my stance on things is quite clear, I try to post only about my own doings or what I personally witness, and leave the commentary on current events to others better able than me. And sometimes my life is simply not that interesting. So there are some wide gaps in the story-line at times.
