A short Saturday afternoon Flight

Got to spend a couple hours playing with Clint and his Bonanza under the excuse of getting some fuel down at Biddeford.
departing rwy 18 out of KPWM
lift-off with the tower and airline terminal of our right wing
looking back at the airline ramp
just crossed rwy 29-11
Looking back at the airport just past I-295 and the old boy's home.
Headed down to the Dexxi fix for the practice instrument GPS-6 approach to Biddeford
weather outside was snotty, low clouds and winds gusting 20 to 40 mph
The approach plate on the Garmin radio superimposes the plane in real time on the plate
and what it looks like on the glass panel
a wider view
SWLCH inbound for a circle to land at Biddeford
After we refuel with 80 gallons of 100LL we head back up the coast to KPWM past Old Orchard Beach, Pine Point and Black Point visible in the background.
we fly over Scarborough and my house, lower left hand side of the photo
turning base for Rwy 29 at KPWM over Morril's Corner on Broadway in South Portland
over the Merril terminal on final for 29
short final just about to cross I-295

  1. I used to want to fly, but I really don't anymore. I keep remembering that phrase in the Bible, "Tempt not the Lord thy God." ;-)

    1. Gorges, Learning to fly and getting my pilot license is the best and most rewarding thing I have done in my life. I have wanted to fly ever since I was 6 yrs old and could see the neighbor that lived lower on the hillside fly by at eye level with our house in his Beechcraft on Sundays. It wasn't til I was in my early 20s and living in the US that I had the chance to take lessons and it was one of the first things I set out to do and actually succeeded. Several years later I added an instrument rating and it helped me make it though some of the darkest times in my life. It was difficult but it gave me a goal to focus on and keep going. I don't get to do a lot of it these days as I can't really justify the cost. But the dream lives on in the form of a home-built project moving at an ever so glacial pace in my shop.
